Accademia del Caffè Espresso is continuing its commitment to spreading espresso coffee culture by participating in several events to better engage the local and international coffee community. This weekend, Accademia Del Caffè Espresso and La Marzocco will take part in the 46th edition of Sigep (Salone Internazionale di gelateria, pasticceria e panificazione artigianale abbinato al mondo del caffè), or the international trade show dedicated to “Artisanal Gelato, Bakery, Pastry, and Coffee”. The fair, showcasing new trends and new flavours each year, will take place at Rimini Exhibition Centre in Italy, from the 18th to the 22nd of January.

La Marzocco and Accademia del Caffè Espresso will attend multiple activities and initiatives. Nora Šmahelová, certified judge and co-manager of Accademia Del Caffè Espresso, will be in the jury of SCA’s 2025 Italian Championships. Massimo Battaglia, Accademia’s Coffee Research Leader, will participate in two seminars: the first on “Coffee and Cocoa Sustainability”, organized by Comunicaffè (20th of January 2025, from 11.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and the second on “Coffee Sustainability in Costa Rica”, organized by IILA – International Italo-Latin American Organization (21st of January, from 12.00 to 12.30 pm.). Tommaso Baldini, Junior Coffee Expert of Accademia Del Caffè Espresso, will compete in the Italian Cup Tasters Championship, a qualifying event for the World Cup Tasters Championship (WCTC).  Moreover, Accademia del Caffè Espresso will collaborate with the Gelato University of Carpigiani to offer a specialized Gelato course in the dedicated exhibition area during the show, again joining efforts to offer and exchange knowledge and expertise within the foodservice industry.

The La Marzocco Italia branch has provided equipment for the Roaster’s Village for various representative countries of the Latin American area in the “Origini” pavilion. The Roaster’s Village is a well-known format designed to enable roasters and boutique green coffee importers to showcase the latest trends in coffee sourcing, roasting, distribution, and brewing. Members of the Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Venezuela and Honduras booths will have the Florentine brand’s machines for the duration of the trade fair. An offsite on-invitation party will also be organized at the Coconuts venue in Rimini on January 20th.

Following the events in Rimini, for those who are interested and wish to learn more about coffee origin, Accademia will host the Icaf institute (Instituto del Café de Costa Rica) in the morning of January 24th, at its Tuscan facility, in via Bolognese 68, in Pian Di San Bartolo, Florence. In parallel, that afternoon, a speech about “Coffee Sustainability in Costa Rica” at the Florentine café Ditta Artigianale (Sant’Ambrogio venue) will be held. Anyone interested may register for the event clicking here.
